Riverpoint West End is a high quality 4 building complex of 129 apartments. They are a mix of 1 to 3 bedroom apartments and penthouses, and front the Brisbane River near Orleigh Park on the corner of Riverside Drive and Forbes St West End.
Cottee Parker Architects delivered the masterplan for construction in 2008 as well as interiors schemes for all apartments. Cottee Parker Interiors also collaborated with Philip Johnson of E’cco Bistro to develop a premium kitchen scheme for the penthouse apartments. Construction was completed in early 2011.
The success of the design is reflected by the extremely good sales in a difficult market with all but one of the Riverside Drive apartments sold.
The complex is a peaceful and private residential enclave with the communal internal spaces enclosed by the buildings. These areas include a large central pool and recreation space, a series of green cool access ways, a gymnasium and a generously planted herb garden. The buildings are softened and separated by raised and layered plantings internally and the bulk of the built form has been reduced to a large extent by height differences between the buildings and a staggered plan form.
The complex has an appealing and active community interface. The higher large building is set back from the street and heights step down with the other 3 lower buildings on the street delivering a low, soft street language appropriate to the riverside residential position.
